how do i go about polishing a brown leather shoe?

My nice brown leather shoes have a seam going from tongue straight down the center to the toe. That seam is held by light tan threads which contrast nicely with the mid-brown leather. The shoes need a good polishing, but I’m not sure how to do it without ruining the threads. How do i go about polishing these shoes?

They are Johnston + Murphy “Shuler Bicycle” shoes, in the brown glossy finish.

I think your best bet is to have the polished by a professional at a shoe shine/repair place. It’ll cost you about $10 but at least you know they won’t ruin them. OR if you want to risk it, stop by a store that sells shoe polish, purchase the right shade of brown and do it yourself. 🙂
